The Cornwall Prowlers have made a couple of player announcements.

And Brandon Gilmour is the first committed player for the 2018-19 campaign, with team organizer Mitch Gagne making the announcement.

“(Gilmour is) a local player who suited up with the Federal Hockey League’s Cornwall Nationals last season,” Gagne said. “He had a very good junior career in Prescott, and he’ll add speed and grit to the Prowlers lineup.”

Gagne said Gilmour will be officially signed shortly after the Outaouais Senior A Hockey League’s rules and regulations meeting on Aug. 5.

Gilmour, 25, played in 17 games with the Nationals during their inaugural 2016-17 campaign, scoring once and assisting once. In 32 games last year, Gilmour registered five goals and nine assists for 14 points.

The Prowlers a bit later had another committed player alert, with Pierre-Luc Sabourin, of Alexandria, planning to suit up for the squad.

The Prowlers say Sabourin is a smooth skating defenceman with a strong offensive upside. Sabourin over the last two seasons of junior B play was a mainstay on the Char-Lan Rebels blueline, with 70 points in 89 contests.

The Prowlers also added to their list of team sponsors, welcoming aboard Splash N’ Go, and Best Foot Forward.

Cornwall this fall will play in an eight-team league. The Prowlers will be in the East Division along with the Maxville Maniacs, Cumberland Bandits and Vaudreuil-Dorion Titans.

The West Division will be comprised by Fort Cologne-Pontiac, Maniwaki, Mont Laurier and Central Gatineau.
